Our Achievements

Since 1995, Friends of the Beatson has raised approximately £1,700,000. All of this money has been committed to a variety of projects which have made the lives of Beatson patients better. These projects have included:

  • the purchase of 2 hydrotherapy baths (and the fitting out of the rooms in which they are located)
  • over 100 electronically controlled beds, reclining armchairs, a special spinal compression bed
  • portable oxygen systems, pain control systems, the commissioning of a private room for critically ill patients
  • the upgrading of day rooms, shower and bathrooms - all at the former Beatson location and a whole host of other items which help, in some way, to make the lives of cancer patients more tolerable
  • providing patient transport to and from treatments ,and lastly;
  • providing the Friends of the Beatson Centre located on the fourth floor of the new state of the art Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre

Friends of the Beatson work closely with the medical and nursing staff to identify the areas of greatest need and benefit and are continually heartened by the feedback received, not only from Beatson staff, but also from the patients themselves.
