The Charity
Former patients, Ian Dickson and Alan Kilpatrick, with the encouragement of senior medical staff at the Beatson, got together with a number of other past patients and relatives to establish if there was anything they could do "to give something back".
In 1995 they established Friends of the Beatson, which is a company limited by guarantee and a Scottish registered Charity. Its aim is the provision, in parallel with the excellent clinical care given, of practical comfort and support for Beatson patients.
The charity is run by a small group of directors - Ian Dickson, Alan Kilpatrick, Elizabeth Kennedy and Gordon Thomson.
